The coffee plant is an evergreen shrub that grows in tropical regions with average temperatures ranging from 64° to 75°F and with heavy rainfall all year round.The plant takes from 3 to 5 years to bear its first cherry-like fruits, and another 6 to 8 months to for the berries to ripen.Each plant yields approximately 2000 berries every year, each containing two coffee beans.Once the berries are ripe, they are harvested.Then the beans are separated from the pulp and then classified. After being classified, coffee beans undergo a roasting process.This is done to enhance the natural oils, and caramelize the natural sugars within the beans. The roasted coffee is then blended to match the tasteprint of the roaster, and then either packaged, or sent to be ground. The majority of the world coffee production is made up of 2 varieties: 1.
